The HTC desire can used as a wireless HotSpot which is awesome! However the cretins at Orange decided they’d make this feature difficult to use on purpose so here’s a quick guide to re enable your Desire for Hotspotting action,
From your homescreen;
Menu/settings/Wireless&Networks/Mobile networks/Access Point Names
You should see the following three APNs;
Orange Internet
Consumer Broadband
Orange MMS(that “consumer broadband” one is the one I don’t remember seeing before, but I may have been blind. If you don’t have it, go ahead and {assuming it’s a clean factory-issue Orange Desire obviously} Unrevoke your Desire!)
Select Consumer Broadband (THAT’s “CONSUMER BROADBAND” that needs to be Selected NOT the other two)
CHANGE the APN from “consumerbroadband” to “orangeinternet”
CHANGE the Username from <Not set> to “Orange”
CHANGE the password from <Not set> to “Multimedia”
Make sure you use the capital first letters exactly as I’ve typed them there. Oh, and don’t type the ” marks. I’m sure if you’re smart enough to use XDA-Dev you already know that, but no harm in stating it for the n00blets.
Authentication type should be set to CHAP. Make sure, I think it was anyway but just check.
Press your Menu button, tap “Save”
And that’s it.
Switch on your “Wifi Hotspot” in your usual way, search and connect from your lappie, surf the bejesus out of those pesky Orange ratbags. Meanwhile your phone keeps its own connection side by side your tethered hotspot – that’s what the “Orange Internet” settings alter, so don’t mess with those.
Don’t forget to use one of the WPA security methods of course, otherwise some cheeky knob-jockey will definitely enjoy your Orange account’s data capacity right up to the hair.

Wifey sent me this today:
Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

Hebrews 10:36
This is just beautiful!
Fav bit – Trying to prove God is like trying to defend a Lion homie, It don’t need your help! Just open up the cage.
He’d got himself into a right state. He was in a bit of a mangled mess. We decided to call the RSPCA who said that they would pass the info on to one of their officers but no call came. By 2:30 I decided to do something myself and armed myself with some rubber gloves, a pair of scissors some water some seeds and a box lined with soft paper.
At first the poor lil guy was flapping all over the place but i gently got a hold of him and calmed him down, waiting till he was used to me holding him. It took about 5 mins to cut him out of the main netting then a futher 20 minutes to then carefully cut the neting that he was tangled in. Once free he broke free of me and went stratight for the water which showed that he must have been there for a while.
Another ten mins had him com[letly free and then i set him down.
I’d like to say he had a burst of flight and flew into the great blue sky but it was cloudy and he went straight into the netting again! I grabbed him and stopped him from getting tangled. It was clear from this burst that he was not in a good way so i popped him in the box with some food and water and then laid a tea towel over the top. I was thinking that he needed the rest.
The RSPCA guy never showed so at 4:30 we went back up to check on him and under the tea-towel we found a much perkier bird. I popped him out and he was much more responsive but he did fly straight into the window but after about 10 mins of getting his bearings he launched himself onto the roof and then within 5 mins he was gone.
He flew out of my life just as quickly as he had appeared. I’d be fibbing if I said I didn’t feel a little like Grizzly Adams
The cretin!!!!…no, no, the cute lil thing. It felt good to do this today!
